A Singing Workshop

like no other.

The Healing Singing Workshop is an  unusual singing workshop.  It is unique in that  music is the "vehicle" through which we achieve the goals of the workshop but "musical artistry" is not the focus of the workshop. The emotional and spiritual needs of the individual are the  main focus. Making a connection with your own heart and soul is the  objective.

We take an open minded  approach to the "art form". The goal of the workshop is to create an environment that nurtures and fosters personal and spiritual growth. Yes we sing. Actually mostly all we do is sing, but our motives for coming together and singing are perhaps different from other workshops:

We use music in combination with certain spiritual principles to create a "respite" for ourselves and others;  to help heal ourselves and to give ourselves  a rest away from the rigors, stresses,  and major challenges of our lives.

We make a conscious choice to "let go" for just a little while, to get lost in the music, to enjoy it, to experience life without the struggle and discover what's left over when we let go. There aren't any vocal or musical requirements because striving to meet those requirements would be yet one more struggle added to the list.

We create an environment through which you can be free to explore your own creativity  as it relates to your spirituality without having to worry about meeting any particular level of artistry. You can take  liberties with the music  in the interest of  expressing what perhaps you wouldn't be free to express elsewhere.

Why do we take this approach to singing?

Society is changing. People today are  passive when it comes to the arts.  The "art form" of singing has become  a performance venue.  One person sings and thousands sit back and listen.

There are many  reasons why most adults do not sing, too many to relate in this article, but one reason is that there are very few places where people are actually given the opportunity to sing in a safe environment.

In a world where the "art form" has become a business there is the need for a workshop where one can go to express themselves without fear of rejection, without having to measure up to certain standards and actively participate in a creative process that re-charges his or her spiritual and creative batteries.

The "individual" is in truth the originator of all art. It is the person that brings the sacredness to the art not the other way around. It is the person that is the living soul and therefore is entitled to the utmost respect and to be given the right of passage in the undeniable "spiritual equality" that we all share.

Surprisingly, there is an ironic twist to this philosophy: When a person "lets go" of all the artistic standards and embarks on an inner journey of this sort...the most beautiful, simple, heartfelt and deeply profound music is the result!  This is perhaps the great mystery behind Healing Singing.

Weather you've never sung before or are a consummate professional...if you are  looking for a place to  rest your tired and weary bones and want to savor life from a completely different reference point then you might want to experience Healing Singing for yourself.
