ART IS NOT SOURCE
Art does not create itself and is not self existent. Remove either the person creating the art or the person interpreting it and it has no existence. (The work of art itself is merely a communication that must first be created by a living breathing soul and secondly must be interpreted by another living breathing soul. Art is only as alive as the person through whom it is being channeled to or from.) The individual is the sacred channel through which the infinite source works. Raising an art form to a level of deification gives rise to mimicry and conformity. Such a practice will ultimately result in cutting off our own creative intuition. All we need have is a healthy respect for the art without diminishing or slighting our own intuition and creativity. The dignity of the individual should always take priority over the demands of the art form. What we attempt to achieve is freedom; the power to act or speak or think without externally imposed restraints. It is wise to like ourselves within the art first, and then we can learn to like the art in ourselves. Self value comes first. One's highest sense of self is one's highest sense of art. Robert Oliver
